It makes sense, doesn\u2019t it? Here\u2019s how I flexed my creative muscles this month.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_1-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-468\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_1-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"FCW_1 edit turq\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In March I attended the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flcreativity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Florida Creativity Weekend<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in beautiful Sarasota. As a souvenir, here are two techniques for your own creative toolbox:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindmapping.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mindmapping<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trust me, you can use this exercise for everything \u2014 even which car to buy or where to go for vacation. Mindmapping mimics the brain&#8217;s thought patterns, giving every idea a place to live. It\u2019s about coming at a \u2018problem\u2019 from every angle and taking a deep dive. Let me know if you want some templates.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_3-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-466\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_3-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"FCW_3 edit turq\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativeeducationfoundation.org\/creative-problem-solving\/divergent-thinking\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divergent<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativeeducationfoundation.org\/creative-problem-solving\/convergent-thinking\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Convergent Thinking<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divergent thinking <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">encourages you to generate a LOT of ideas. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Convergent thinking <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">encourages you to hone in on those ideas, filtering and selecting the best ones based on objective criteria. You\u2019re likely already familiar with a popular strategy for divergent thinking. It\u2019s called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/positiveedgeeducation.com\/examining-the-osborn-parnes-model-of-creative-problem-solving\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">brainstorming<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, pioneered by Sidney Osborn and Alex Parnes.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_4-1-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-467 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FCW_4-1-edit-turq-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"FCW_4 (1) edit turq\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re interested in attending this creativity conference in the future, let me know.
